This morning in the BART station, a busker was singing a song I really like, so we chatted afterwards. He said, "not many people know that one." I said, "it's SnowPatrol, right?" He thought I said, "snowblower" and it just cracked him up. He then gave me a fist bump.
Friend in town this weekend, lots of touristy stuff. Low point – a guy climbed over the railing of the GG Bridge and was threatening to jump. The crisis cops came quickly and talked to him for quite awhile; hopefully that turned out well. The chopper was still hovering when we left.
Did a lot of hiking over the weekend. Apparently, a mountain lion was hiking in the same area of Woodside – glad not to have crossed paths.
Going to lunch today w/ a friend from Tennessee (he's good Southern), we call him Shorty. He's a FedX pilot - just got in from Anchorage, AK and is headed to Narita, Japan, before four days off in Taipei, Taiwan. Apparently has some "cool" earbuds from China for C. He couldn't guarantee they came straight from the factory…I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Had a lot of fun at the Cosmic Run – the most disorganized 5K, I've ever participated in. Supposedly you run a course through LED light installations all the while being sprayed w/ powdered pigments whilst a dj is blasting heart-pounding, soul-crushing, mind-numbing (one of those) tunes. This was all around Candlestick Park, but the course was not readily apparent, so basically large throngs of people were criss-crossing the parking lot in herds, running from installation to installation. And is started 2 HOURS LATE. Somehow, still fun.
Sofa veg-out out night. I watched portions of the following:
Detroit Rock City Dark Shadows Stand By Me Enjoyed all of them. Last night I decided to watch a couple of hours footage of my mom that I'd taken 11 years ago when she was sick and I'd moved back to Memphis. At that point she was 55, and already 5 years into some sort of early dementia. I had been afraid to watch it up until now. It turned out to be such a gift to see all the moments that we shared and the ways in which she communicated - mainly with her eyes and with her smile - amidst the search for words.
Today SF will be transformed to Gotham City for a 5 year old's Make-A-Wish request. Folks working downtown, might want to take a peek, apparently 1000s of volunteers have converged to watch little Miles fight villains!

I *almost bought a box of Krispy Kreme donuts from the guy selling them outside BART, so SF crew, enjoy the idea of an almost-donut! No sugar crash. In rodent news: My brother and Isabella's hamster share a name. The mouse we are temporarily watching is called Mousewell, and is quite cute despite his icky tail. Snowball the guinea pig's eyeball was receding yesterday, apparently they tend to retract them when they're in pain. Antibiotics are in order. Trying to catch up, so here's a quickie:
